Baby latching

Hi all, so my little one had a tongue tie cut nearly 4 weeks ago and all is going well with breastfeeding and no more click sounds on bottles but about two days ago, dc started drooling a little bit and putting hands in mouth then clicking and poor latch started again. I mean it’s a possibility of reattachment but I’m so scared it can be that as I’m afraid to put dc through another tongue tie snip. Somebody please tell me it’s not re attachment 😭.

I would recommend meeting with a lactation consultant and maybe go see your pediatrician to rule out reattachment. My little guy had a reattachment two weeks ago and we met with a lactation consultant to go over the exercises and to have her assess how we are performing the exercises to make sure we are doing them right!

@Shelby damn, so reattachment is possible. Oh my God, I can’t see my little one go through a cut again 😭. I am hoping it’s not reattachmrnt

It Is possible but it could be healing great! You just never know! I had my lactation consultant and the pediatrician confirm his was healing okay because I honestly couldn’t tell since his mouth is so small 🥺. My lactation consultant also said tummy time and breastfeeding work on the oral muscles as well so maybe try those as well! ❤️

Oh yes, I am. I mean by 4 weeks after cut I felt it should be completely healed, right? And baby latch suddenly went poor and clicking @Shelby

Clicking is the break of a seal and can be caused by tongue tie (reattachment too) but also weak tongue caused by the tie. If bottle feeding, would recommend a slow tear to increase tongue strength, elevated side lying feeding (not feeding in the cradle position) and if you can afford it, body work by a craniotherapist
