I just live in an apartment and we have a water table on our patio. The kids love it and will play in it for ever. When we were in a house I bought one of the little toddler swing slide combo things. It’s great because on too hot or too cold days I’d keep it inside and on perfect days outside. If you don’t want to deal with water you could do a sand table.
I just turn the hose on and hand it over lol. My son has some little shovels, a rake, truck, and a plastic Tupperware. He could pack the hose around for an hour before he gets tired of it.
@Jazmin Water Table! Great idea
@Willow swing slide combo sounds fun.. Amazon here I come! 😉
@Rylee This sounds easy and practical! Thanks!!
@Carmen yes! It’s where I got mine from too. 20/10
Sandbox has been a big hit with our 18mo old. However, I do not recommend the turtle sand box. It's a pain in the butt to assemble.
Water table, balance bike, shovels/buckets (if there’s dirt/rocks around), balls, tball set, and I let my daughter bring toys outside if they’re easy to clean or wipe off
Bubbles, chalk, water table, splash pad, sandbox, maybe a little picnic table and find some coloring book,canvas, paint, or Montessori activities
The good thing about toddlers is that they love to use everything to see how it works. Entertaining a two year old outside ideas include drawing with sticks, collecting or counting rocks, putting on music and having a jam session, and believ it or not exercise. Simple things like touch your toes and raise your hands in the air and stretch then windmills and squats or jumping jacks is a great motivator and can be used as a get moving routine for once you get outside.
@Amanda Thank you for this perspective! Makes complete sense!!
Thank you all so much!!!! These are great suggestions and helped me out immensely!!🫶🏽
@Carmen well it kind of helps that I have a degree in child development and worked with young children for almost 8 years. But I also have raised two of my own toddlers and about to raise a third and these simple things have never failed me at home or daycare! Unless of course it’s something the child is not interested in
Water tables, balls, some vehicle they can ride or push around, chalk, small slide
