Moving house close to due date

I need to know from mums that have had their babies what are the absolute essentials to buy before baby arrives. And what can come later down the line. Apart from the obvious - nappies/ carseat etc. Also planning on breastfeeding. We’re moving into our new home that is currently under construction… I’m due end of July and we’ve just had a moving date of beginning of July… eek! To make matters worse, we’re having to move out of our home early, and live in a family member’s apartment for six weeks before then, otherwise our buyers would have pulled out. So.. we don’t have a lot of storage - none in fact. So buying a travel system / pram etc. is out of the question. But please do tell me, from experience what do I really need, and what can I ignore all the marketing for? What can come later? It’s making me anxious because I love to be prepared. This is going against everything I know 😅 any tips / help would be wonderful!

I gave birth the same day we were moving in, as long as you have somewhere for baby to sleep everything else can wait really x

Don’t forget things for you as well as baby! I would say just make sure you have your comforts as moving etc. I would say maybe get some pre made formula bottles just in case. I did this and never used them, however was just got to know we had them to hand if we ever needed them x

@Sophy wow! That’s really reassuring - thank you.

@Katie ha yeah I’ve not even thought about me! But that’s a good shout.

The biggest things that helped me when my girl was born first of all is Velcro swaddles. Saved me so many times. Her swing was also super essential for me. Make sure you’re staying on the same level as a bathroom for the first few weeks. If you’re more financially well off a mini fridge would have been a godsend to me but it’s not exactly necessary. But it helps with those late night feedings if you don’t wanna wake up your partner to go to the fridge every night 😂 this is just my experience though everyone is different 🩷

I would say pram is essential- worst case you can leave stuff in the back of your car

I was the same!! Living at a friends place with only a couple boxes for 2 months. It was difficult but we made do. We didn’t have much, only the essentials and if we needed anything we’d just buy it on the day etc, like formula, steriliser, bottles. We loved the ergopouch or love to dream swaddles instead of traditional ones. So much easier for night changes etc. I honestly didn’t even use our pram much bc of all the sleepless nights and our baby didn’t like being in the pram so if we went out I just used our clip carrier or wrap carrier which I think is def essential!!
