Pretty normal for formula fed babies to poo less often especially as they get older, spoke to the GP about it before and they'd said they don't tend to get concerned until it gets up to a week of not going! X
My baby was so constipated at 2 weeks she went 5 days without a poo. We used infacol even though that’s really meant for colic, but it just helped get everything moving and helping her pass wind too. She now does a poo every other day but she’s in no pain and it’s always a very soft poo. My health visitor said to me 2 weeks ago to not get worried unless it’s been 7 days as formula can do this to babies💞
Our 5wk old baby is breast and formula fed, he went 4 days without a poo a few times. We put baby in the bath to relax him, that often gets stuff moving. If baby resists bicycle legs we put white noise on and he fully relaxes so we can smoothly do the movements for a good few minutes. The other good one is tucking the legs up and rotating the hips in circles, 5 times each way. We have also used Infacol which I think has helped too but that is more for gas, I have seen other mums say it can cause constipation, so it may depend on the baby on that one.
Apparently around this age as well they start learning to co ordinate their muscles properly and basically are learning to poo by understanding the feeling of it better! Can sometimes cause them to push at the wrong time and tense up when they feel like they need to release it
Thank you 🙏🏻 she had a massive poop today after 2 days but it’s a relief to know this can be normal.
If you have some colostrum frozen you can give that to baby and that should help, a friend of mine swore by it :)
