Desperately needing help please ( regarding wind)

I'll try make this short. My boy was BF until 6 months after that went on to aptamil formula. He had bad reflux so changed him to aptamil anti reflux then he became constipated with it being thicker milk . Tried changing him back to normal milk and was given omeprazole by gp. Wouldn't take normal milk so put him back on anti reflux , changed his bottles to the anti colic ones ,tried dentinox and infacol , stopped using the prep machine because people say it puts too much air in bottle and was given Laxdio for constipation. The laxido is helping him with the constipation. He is absolutely fine during the day but when it gets to bed time he is up constantly with a sore stomach ALL night . He gets a bottle between 11 and 12 pm and afterwards when I'm changing his nappy I struggle because is legs are so pulled up to his stomach with discomfort. I sit every night for about 45mins after feeding him trying to get as much wind(burps) out as I can and massage his stomach and nothings working I dont understand why this is happening , does anyone have any advice ? Thank you One more thing to add . When I read the instructions for making a formula bottle most of them say boil the kettle and leave for 45mins then make the bottle. Do people actually do this or is it ok to use the boiled water straight away ? I've been worried using the boiled water straight away was affecting the milk in some way ? Thanks

Have you tried a different formula to Aptamil? Aptamil doesn't agree with my girl, it gives her bad wind and diarrhoea. Try cow&gate or Kendamil

I did try changing the milk but that was when I was trying to get him back onto the thinner stuff but he wouldn't take it . So not tried any of the other brands anti reflux . I will try that thank you.

I’m afraid I don’t have any advice re helping with wind for your LO but just to say absolutely don’t use boiled water straight away. You boil the water and then leave it as boiling water kills some of the nutrition in the formula so it has to cool down a certain amount so it can still kill any bacteria in the formula but not kill all the nutrients x

@Isobel thank you . I'm so stuck on how to help him and its difficult to judge timing when using the kettle then having to let it cool down before making the bottle. I might go back to using the prep machine if the change of milk makes a difference.

It’s such a tricky one isn’t it! Going to be a controversial one but we batch make our formula in the morning/evening and then store it in the fridge for 24hrs (been doing this since he was 3 weeks old). Our HV was against it at first but when I pointed out the manufacturer’s (we use Aptamil) website said it was perfectly okay she backed off and said as long as the manufacturer says it’s alright then that’s fine. Our GP has also since approved how we’re doing it. Because he was a June baby we used to give it to him straight from the fridge to try and help with the hot days and he now will only have his milk cold which actually works really well for us as it means there’s no warm up time/we can take bottles out in a chiller bag with chiller blocks and keep them cold all day. But all that aside, maybe batch making it and then just warming it up would be quicker for you than having to wait for the kettle and then cooling it down even more x

@Isobel such a useful idea. I have not once thought I could batch make and put in the fridge 😅 . So thank you . This is so useful especially for night time . I've always just thought you had to use the bottle before 2 hours and then throw it away. X

Yeah honestly it was an absolute game changer for us especially for the nights! Give it a go and see if it works for you guys! X
