This is similar to my boy he’s only 4 weeks, his is more forehead, if you can cut out dairy see how you go and then if it improves then great but if not cut out soya too and see if that also helps. It’s so hard, talk to health visitor. I get visits every 2 weeks and I’m only on day one so I’m seeing how it goes xx

I would say this is definitely CMPA. My baby started with bad nappies and congestion that the doctor said was normal, and then progressively got worse and ended up in hospital with blood in all of his nappies, so trust your gut mama!

Does he only have red eyelids when/ after feeding? Only ask as my son was born with stork marks on his eyelids and in the middle of his forehead and they queried them at hospital but he’s always had them x

@Georgia thank you my baby is formula feed going to book GP appointment tomorrow x

@Scarlet 🤍 I’ve already been back and forth to doctors for the congestion hoping they take me seriously this time x

@Jade they come and go throughout the day. Normally after feeding x

I ended up paying to see a private consultant because I wasn’t taken seriously, so I feel your pain with the doctors! X

@Scarlet 🤍 do you mind me asking where this was as I’m also Essex based. Thank you

We had to see a private consultant after insisting to get a referral, as gp wasn’t taking us seriously. I would change formula as soon as possible though. We used Aptamil Pepti, but there are others. Might take a couple of weeks to get used to the taste and symptoms to go completely, but worth persevering. You can buy the milk online before you get it on prescription. We saw Prof Neil Shah | Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist

My husband has BUPA so all of ours has been done through that, but honestly there are thousands of private people locally as I was googling them for weeks!

Also the other thing to just be aware of, when you go to the doctors they will always offer aptimel pepti because it’s the cheapest prescription milk as it still contains broken down milk proteins, so isn’t a true allergy milk. If your baby has a true allergy or intolerance, they need to be on an amino based formula which are expensive, so won’t be offered first of all. A lot of babies still react on Pepti, and it’s just another milk they create a buildup to in their system, so just makes the recovery longer if/when they are put onto an amino milk. It takes 6-8weeks for dairy to leave their systems, so don’t expect any improvement until at least the 2-3week mark, but it will take the full time for everything to settle x

@Julia thank you so much. Did you use milk thickener with it? Going to try GP one last time tomo then will consult someone privately if needed. Is awful so hard to get the help needed. Can i ask what symptoms your children had?
