I had to be induced because of this and antibiotics in labour. You will be fine try not to worry about it! I worried too much about it when I had it! It’s quite common x
Once you’ve got it you’re classed as always having it. Just need an antibiotic drip when you give birth, as long as it’s in your maternity notes and tell them when you go into labour you’ll be fine!! 🥰 I’m in for a planned section due to 2nd and having section with my first and baby being breach x
@Jess can I private message you about your planned section? Xx
Nothing to worry about you’ll just need IV antibiotics while in labour x
I got it from the hospital and so my baby. My baby had to be hospitalised at 2 weeks old because his face was so inflamed that he couldn’t see anymore. He was at risk of dying haven’t we gone to the hospital when we did. It was a scary time but he is fine now and so am I. I wish you all the best however do monitor your baby as they can develop symptoms up to 3 months and if your baby has any symptoms go straight to a&e.
@Emma yeah of course you can x
My first pregnancy and currently been diagnosed with the same so I’m trying to be positive about it and do my own research into it.
Have a read of Dr Sara Wickham’s information on it. She’s an independent midwife and researcher and her information is unbiased. Group B Strep is a transient bacteria and very very common. In overwhelming amount of cases the baby is fine. Antibiotics are not harmless. I agreed to antibiotics with my first but declined to even be tested and declined antibiotics with my second and he was completely fine.
I've got it. Probably came up because I was having additional swabs under the pre term clinic. The amount of women who have it but go undiagnosed must be pretty high as it's very very common. It is also transient but they will give you antibiotics no matter what. I was initially worried about when I need to go in to hospital. I'm not really now, I'm treating myself as everyone else and going to hospital during active labour or as soon as waters break for ivabx Good luck xxxxx
I was found to have it after the birth of my second child. Luckily she had antibiotics at birth anyway because she was premature. This time round they’ve said I’m still low risk and can labour naturally and even in the midwife led unit as long as I have antibiotics during labour 😀 nothing to worry about
Apparently I had it but didnt find out until weeks (probably a month or so) after giving birth and had no issues at all
I had this but no bad issues everything was good
