Anterior placenta

I wasn’t worried in the slightest about having an anterior placenta (especially since my OB reassured me there’s no real difference other than the movement dampening) but now I just read that it could require additional monitoring for complications during delivery? Has anyone had this come up for them? Let a girl know🥲

I had an anterior placenta and no additional monitoring for that at all. There may be a slightly higher risk of it migrating to over your cervix but negligible and if you've had you're 20 week and it was fine, you're probably good. They may check again when they make sure baby is head down before delivery, but it shouldn't pose any issues

I haven't heard of that complication either, and I had it last pregnancy and now too.

the only concern would be if your placenta is covering your cervix but if they haven’t mentioned anything to you yet then there will be no concern!! Don’t let google scare you lol

I have an anterior placenta and my OB and high risk doctor (unrelated issues) haven’t posed any concern. However, it is tougher to feel my baby, which gives me anxiety sometimes. Although it’s hard not to be anxious during pregnancy anyways 🫣

(From my understanding) Anterior placentas can only cause additional complications during delivery if they’re attached to a previous cesarean scar. That is called placenta accreta and there are two other levels of this where the placenta is more invasive. If you have not had a cesarean prior, there is no concern because that cannot happen. I’m currently in the waiting period to make sure I do not have placenta accreta. It was not attached at my 20wk appt but was very close to my scar tissue. My next appt is 28 weeks so keep your fingers crossed for me!

I don’t think there’s any complication. Had it in last pregnancy and this one too

I had one and never heard this/had no complications
