@Nicole this is great thank you
Teach through play. Focus on building vocabulary, color recognition, number correspondence and counting, and shape identification.
It’s more recognising her name and learning how to do her coat at that age.
@Karen she can do her coat and shoes 🙂 so more towards life skills ?
@Charlotte so when we play with her little people characters asking questions like what colour dress are they wearing. Can we count our people ? X
Honestly don’t put too much pressure on yourself My daughter could already count numbers & knew her colours etc before nursery She’s 3&1/2 and started in October just past Since then she has come on leaps and bounds! Knows so much more information, is learning to recognise her name, can now recognise numbers on signs and doors etc, dresses herself, plays independently and with others etc Nursery does so much for them and we get a term time phone call each term asking us what we would like them to work on that time x
@Stephanie I’ve heard my little girl count often and she knows colours but she will purposely say the wrong one for a reaction as she finds it funny 🤣🤣 thank you. I think because of my brain injury I’m more paranoid she will be behind x
@Fay I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Obviously each morning she will probably need to hang her coat on her peg or find her water bottle. If she can sit on the carpet comfortably and focus that helps. In the summer term with my eldest they practised writing their names. My youngest had a severe speech disorder so difficult to tell what numbers/letters she knew but she managed fine and enjoyed nursery.
@Fay Exactly. You don't need flash cards or workbooks, just play and talk about what you see throughout the day, read books and talk about the pictures. Don't over complicate it.
From printables from totschooling.net I made my son a busy book. Singing songs and making things fun. Using as many opportunities while they are playing as that's when they learn best. As for screen time: Sesame Street, Daniel Tiger, Ms Rachel, Bluppi and Meekah and Blue's clues have been a dream for my son who is speech delayed. Also make a playlist of books being read aloud on Youtube.
