Baby congested

My baby is 1 month old and is very Congested shes also throwing up quite a bit. Im currently breastfeeding her. Ive been to the gp and have been told the vomiting is due to latching incorrectly and the congestion is normal- they didn’t recommend anything other than changing the breastfeeding position. Im feeling concerned because it has been more than 2 weeks now since my baby has these symptoms and recently she has started to cough. Does anyone have any advice or tips on baby with congestion/cough and vomiting? TIA

Same here with the congestion, I’ve been using a saline spray and a nasal suction and that’s been helping x

For congestion I use nose drops and the nose frida before feeds if he’s congested. It’s usually worse at night I guess because he’s lying down and there’s more opportunity for it to build up. Can you get to a lactation consultant? Congestion can be caused by reflux (although there are many reasons including CMPA and tongue tie). We used the council provided service which was great. That being said it could also be a standard cold but always worth checking feeding anyway xx

Throwing up and congestion could indicate reflux. As the stomach acid is coming up it’s irritating her nasal passages and cause congestion. Does she have spit bubbles in her mouth? And when she’s unsettled does she want to be held upright?

@Madeleine yes exactly her congestion is worse at night when shes sleeping. i have an appointment at a feeding clinic today, hopefully it will help.

@Halima yes she does sometimes spit up bubbles and cottage-cheese-like stuff. She also gets really upset just before vomiting or spitting up.

@Elisha thank you, I’ll give the saline spray and the nasal suction a try x

My girl has the same, the gp has said it is reflux

Can you call NCT to find local support with latching?
