Only give calpol dont give ibuprofen as they’ll turn black other than that apparently oat baths hekp? X
As above, don’t give ibuprofen just calpol, oat baths every night (you just put a load of porridge oats in a Muslin cloth, tie it at the top so it’s like a steam pudding and put it in the bath as it’s running, then squeeze the ‘bag’ a few times to release the milky colour and then leave it in the bath with them and squeeze a few times during the bath. Just make sure to rinse out the bath after or you end up with porridge goo in the bottom of your bath. Buy some calamine lotion (usually can get in supermarket in medicine section) and cotton wool pads and apply the lotion all over the body before bed and in the morning using the cotton wool pads, and allow to dry before dressing/pyjamas for 10 mins ish. It makes them look like they’re covered in chalk but does really help. Run baths cool as warm baths can make the spots more itchy. Give antihistamines if itchy. Dress them in loose clothing so it doesn’t irritate skin 🙂
@Isabelle thank you so much for explaining that so well! I will definitely do that xx
Best things for us were calpol, throat spray, cooling gel specifically for chicken pox, ice lollies, and then from Tesco you can buy these vegetable bags for 30p for loose veg, we used one of these bags, put oats in it and ran the bath and it infused it.
We did calamine lotion, aloe Vera gel and piriton for 1 year olds. Also did oat baths and applied sudocrem
Yes my daughter has just gotten over it. We were prescribed piriton by the GP in case she was itchy, and we also gave her oatmeal baths and Calpol x
We used the aveeno oat bath sachets and poxclin. Also got antihistamine incase they were itchy but thankfully they weren’t
