Honestly my little boy spent a good portion this morning playing with the strap on my phone case and he has so many actual toys. Some of the ads are really helpful but alot of them are designed to make you feel like you're not doing enough. You can make sensory toys, anything that crinkles or lights up is a crowd pleaser in this house, sometimes he cries if we go in the kitchen and the ceiling lights arent on he's obsessed with them. I got a cheap play arch from tkmaxx with dangly toys I've got about 6 that I rotate out so he doesn't get bored but I will reintroduce the first ones after a couple of weeks because he will have forgotten he's bored of them by then and he happily sits in his bouncy chair or on the floor hitting them or pulling them off the links to put in his mouth
My baby likes to sit in his bouncer at times. I have a super simple a frame baby gym that I can adjust for height so he can use it lying down or in his bouncy chair. He likes a crinkly book and he has an easy grab ball that he likes to wave about and kick. We got him a wee projector because he loves lights and that's been a really nice relaxing "toy" for winding down before bed. He has a couple of soft rattle/jingle toys he likes, but he mostly just tries to shove them in his mouth if he's holding them himself. Not a toy but he also loves a look at himself in the mirror, so we do that pretty regularly through the day. He's also a big fan of watching the trees
His favourites at the moment are a silver blanket like the ones you get at the end of a marathon (someone else has also mentioned this on here) because it’s noisy and visual; a set of ribbons that are hung over his bouncy chair; a helium balloon he watches on his changing mat; a set of socks + bracelets with bells in; and watching the washing machine spin. We’ve got other bits and pieces that are sensory focused but those are the faves currently! There’s no recommended amount of toys etc (if anything fewer is better as they’ll have more chance to engage and not get overwhelmed) so whatever you’re doing is great I’m sure 😊
My daughter is determined to crawl at the moment. She likes her contrast flash cards and ribbons, but the only thing she's really interested in doing at the moment is crawling (and talking). She can lift her chest and do the leg motion, but she hasn't worked out doing them together yet ☺️ so she gets frustrated and rolls onto her back. She doesn't seem that interested in actual toys, really. She'll look at them and touch them, but for the most part, once she knows what they do, she's bored. 🤷🏽♀️
Yeah i got my daughter the sit me up nuby chair and she loves it! But they deflate quite fast i think She’s obsessed with anything she can grab onto at the moment
Floor seats aren't actually recommended as they don't allow them to be moving freely to integrate reflexes and develop skills for rolling and eventually sitting independently. My little girl loves watching the brio trains go round the track during tummy time and likes swatting toys which are overhead, the foil blanket and anything she can stick in her mouth
We have a mat that i put on the floor she likes to lay on her back and try to roll on her side to get her toys weve got a tummy time mirror, lots of rattles the lamaze toys. She does tummy time, too, with her mirror and a couple of toys that sing, etc, to keep her attention. She's a play gym she likes to lay under, and I sometimes put that over the top of her bouncer chair too. Mainly, if she picks a toy up, she just chews it, so she's a few teething toys also. Fabric books that squeak/crunch seem to be a hit, and she can turn a page now. We've been reading the "that's not my" books, and she seems to quite like touching the different texture . I've also got a toy where you push a button on top and lots of balls spin inside which she can't fo herself but she likes to watch it, and a couple of those toys which are like metal hoops with beads on and she will try to get the beads and push them around . Mostly though she just likes to sit on my knee and watch what her siblings are doing, and stand up on my knee
My baby girl loves those spinner things that were popular a few yeaars ago but more recently her favourite chewtoy are her hands lol
Once my little girl was able to sit, but was wobbly I did get her a sit me up thing from smyths that she loved for a short lived amount of time but I think it helped with her muscles too! I think she was more 5 months at that point though x Lots of tummy time, light up toys sensory toys, because before you know it they won’t be interested 😂 my little girl now just wants to be UP! 💀 x
