Baby carriers

Looking for opinions on the best baby carriers, I’ve not announced pregnancy so don’t want to ask on social media etc and google is giving mixed reviews. I have a bad back and so does my partner, so anything that is a bit more secure in those areas. We do a lot of walking and days out also, so would like suitable for longer times. Thank you x

At the beginning you’re best in a stretchy wrap or similar, then move onto a more structured carrier - do you have any sling libraries or support near you? Not sure where you’re based but this is a great group that you could both search and post anonymously on, it’s got lots of baby wearing specialists who’d be able to advise re: your back too: https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1EZXPvNJLn/?mibextid=K35XfP x

I agree with the above - stretchy wrap for the beginning then look at a sling library for advice. I have the ergo baby omni 360 which I can’t fault. I used it until my first was 2.5 yrs old as it has multiple carrying positions. And I’m now using it again with my 6 week old for longer trips, and my stretchy wrap for shorter periods of time

Agree with the above! We also have the ergobaby 360 and it is great. Only my 3mo hates it 😂 (my 3yo loved it when she was little)

I love our baby bjorn harmony. We had the baby bjorn baby but when my daughter reached 5kg my back got bad and we made the switch. if I did it again I would have bought the harmony from day 1, she sleeps super well in it too. We are only 4 mo in so I can’t speak to longevity etc !

A stretchy wrap (I had a boba wrap and these type come up quite regularly on secondhand sites) to begin with as even structured carriers that claim to be from newborn rarely provide a good fit for actual newborns. If you want a stretchy wrap that functions a bit more like a structured carrier then a close parent caboo is a good option but Close have gone out of business so you would be looking second hand for this. I have an ergobaby360 which has been used for two children though I used it less with my son as I had diastasis this time round. It's better suited when baby has grown a bit, trying to think when I started using it on dog walks comfortably, maybe around 10-12 weeks. It can do back carrys as well and my daughter used to go in it sometimes when she was 2.5 years. It says up to 4 years but I haven't tried it as I was pregnant again by the time she turned 3

I have baby Konny - stretchy and very close with the baby. So they are more comfy and relaxed Now she's a bit bigger, for better support for me, were using Baby Bjorn.

Also agree with everyone else lol. We used a Close Caboo Lite (Vinted) for the first few months and then moved to a Tula Free To Grow. I’d deffo advise going to a sling library if you have one near though. What works for one won’t work for another!

We use a ergobaby embrace. Which is brilliant and my little boy is so settled in it. But I find after a while it pulls on my back so though i really love it... if you have a bad back I probably wouldn't recommend. ( I know this isnt a recommendation but might help to cut it down!) X

Thank you everyone, all of this has been SUPER helpful. Going to look into a local sling library and browse the ones recommended. Every comment is really appreciated xx

We've been gifted an Ergo 360 omni, but had already bought a Baby Bjorn too xx

We use the “Tula” carrier and absolutely love it. Our little one went in it from 3 months and we have hours of sleep clocked up in that thing

Baby ktan for something with an infant insert until they can hold their head up on their own. After that, this is the best carrier. My girly was 20lb at 8mo and my lower back was feeling it. This carrier has been a game changer. I love it so much Baby Carrier with Hip Seat, Baby... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BLS6C6GV?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
