With my first they told me for weeks I’d have a HUGE baby. He was born at 41+2 and average weight, just quite tall. Scans are not always accurate when it comes to measurements. Also I wouldn’t think 4 days is enough to worry about. My friend kept being sent for repeat scans cause baby was measuring small and on repeat scan measurements were always fine.
From what I know measuring 4 days small is not an issue, I’ve always been told they don’t really bother if it’s 6days behind/ahead. It’s great they are doing another scan, who knows, measurements could be totally different! Also, the amount of times I’ve had friends be told they had small babies only to birth prefect sized bubbas. I’m measuring 2 1/2 weeks ahead 😬 waiting to see a consultant next week to find out what that means and what happens now! It’s not a question of being unsure of gestation because it’s IVF!
Every baby is different. 4 days is nothing! Wait for your first measurement at your 28 week midwife appointment x
Thank you so much ladies ❤️❤️
I think sometimes they just grow at different times and the initial date can be off. My sister had growth scans throughout when she was a baby and she is perfectly fine- just shorter than me but perfectly fine 🤩
In my first pregnancy I had to have a growth scan as they were worried baby was small yet he was born 40+4 weighing 9lb 6oz!!
Don’t worry, they had a fear my daughter was a dwarf 😫 she was born 4.2 kg!!! And 58 cm… scans aren’t always accurate! It depends on baby’s movement and position and how accurate they measure it. Even 1cm wrongly measured can cause them to freak out 😅
Don’t worry, just think it’s nice to get an extra check and an extra hello!
I had my extra check and the hospital was honestly amazing. The doctor done another ultrasound and said the baby has steadily grown, placenta and bones are looking good, however overall the baby is still measuring small. They went with me in details all reasons why this could be including genetic disorders or just a normal small baby. I gave blood to test for infections and was offered amniocentesis however declined it as I have a low risk NIPT. The doctor also said on the scan she cannot see any signs of genetic disorders. They are seeing me again in 3 weeks to check the growth. I mean all of this is so overwhelming, I just want the baby to be healthy 🥺🙏🏻
@Marija my mum had this with my sister. They made her have a million tests, growth scans, amniocentesis etc and the consultant just said at the end of it all- some people just have small babies and she is happy and healthy. There’s a lot of worry about size, but we are all different in the outside world- it makes sense that we aren’t all the same in the womb too. The main thing is that your baby is growing. I hope it all goes well with the other tests xx xx
Thank you so much that’s so reassuring xx
Some babies are smaller than others. My little girl in every ultrasound was 2-3 days behind in growth and they said everything ok, didn’t suspect anything. She was on the 25th centile when she was born
