# of Sonograms

I just moved from Colorado to Oklahoma and in Colorado for my first pregnancy I received a decent amount of ultrasounds which I was glad because it made me worry less. Now I’m in Oklahoma pregnant with my second and they are saying I only get two ultrasounds the whole pregnancy? This is weird to me because do I not get an anatomy scan? Only in the beginning to confirm im pregnant and then at 35 weeks is what I’m told? I’m stressed out because why would I not need an anatomy scan? Is this normal ?

2-3 is normal. usually it’s at the beginning and around 20 weeks though so it is a bit weird to not get one at that time. have you asked the doctor why? with my first i got one around 7 weeks, 20 weeks, and 36 weeks and this time in a new state 8 weeks and 20. it can vary between doctors but that middle ultrasound i would think is pretty necessary

I am in Maryland, and I have level 1 ultrasounds with my OB-GYN monthly, and because I'm high-risk {geriatric with a transabdominal cerclage} I had the choice of monthly or biweekly level 2 ultrasounds varying between transabdominal and transvaginal as needed with my perinatologist which are detailed anatomy scans with measurements and all, and I am doing biweekly.

My OB is gonna do 1 every 2wks on mine...Granted I'm also 41 so he's a bit concerned cuz im high risk...but with my other 5 children i had 1-2 every month depending on how the Dr felt

Could be your insurance combined with you not being high risk. Also, different states/clinics/hospitals have different standards.
