❤️👶🏻

Hi all, I’m currently 24 weeks pregnant and I haven’t heard my babies heartbeat- is this normal or is this something I need to ask for?

They don’t usually do it at scans and it’s not routine at all midwife appointment but you can ask your midwife next time you see them to do a Doppler :) I did and recorded it on my phone to go in a bear xx

They don't tend to do it this early. As it's still hard to detect and they don't want to scare for no reason :)

My doctors started mine at 16 weeks x

My midwife first did mine at the 25 week appointment, we had heard the heartbeat already, but only at a private scan

At my hospital they let you hear heart beat for every scan and check for it at each midwife appt. The first time I heard baby’s heartbeat was at the 12 week scan. It’s been procedure. You’re best asking for process at yours!

The first time I heard mine with the NHS was at my 24/25 week midwife appointment. They didn’t listen to it at 16 weeks I only heard it earlier because I had a private scan xx

I'm in the UK and was able to hear the heartbeat at 16 weeks, but it was hard to find as baby is still small. Possibly some midwives would rather wait until later, so as not to cause anxiety when heartbeat is hard to find. But I was told 16 weeks was standard. X

I’m so confused. I thought you could hear the heartbeat from 6 weeks.

@Pam not via a Doppler. X

Started from 16 weeks for first pregnancy , second is later

What’s a Doppler?

@Pam machine listens to baby heartbeat

Ah ok

That’s so weird I get to hear my babies heart beat every 4 weeks at every appointment.

I live in America and I’ve heard the heartbeat at every doctors appointment. I have one once a month.

At my hospital I’ve heard the heartbeat at every appt starting at 10 weeks.

I heared mine at my 12 weeks scan

For both my pregnancies they played the heart beat at the 12 and 20 week ultrasounds (and growth scans when I had them), but I’ve recently heard that isn’t necessarily done in every trust. They then started listening via the prehistoric doppler machine thing at 28 week midwife appointment.

Granted I last had a baby nearly 2 years ago and the guidelines are constantly changing but I’m UK based and heard the heartbeat at my 12 week and 20 week scan (brief but they did it!) and at each midwife appointment from 16 weeks (with the Doppler).

I’m in the UK and I’ve heard my baby’s heartbeat from as early as 6 weeks (private scan). I have my 20 week NHS appointment tomorrow and will most probably hear it then too. I’ve heard it at all my scans and my midwife heard it last time too

You usually hear babies heartbeat at hospital scans - I've heard mine every time, they also let you hear them on the Doppler at midwife scans - well they do in the uk

Did you hear it during your first ultrasound?? I was feeling a bit nervous at my 16 week appointment, so she did the Doppler then too.

I first heard mine at my 26 week midwife appt and was told this is normal for my trust

So I had my 25 week appointment today and I heard it! Thank you for all your advice everyone 💕 It was such a beautiful sound 🥹❤️
