Am I being dramatic?

Please look at the absolute joke of a scan photo they gave me at my 20 week scan. I’ve compared to my daughters at 20 weeks where you can see the full baby. What is this? I actually think it’s really rude

Did they say baby was in an awkward position? Mine was also pretty squished as baby boy had his legs over his head 🤦🏻‍♀️ they move around a lot at this point so sometimes it might just be difficult to get a decent photo. I can see why you would be upset though x

Oh I think this is a nice picture? Looks like babies face / side profile. X

So many factors can affect how clear a scan photo is, where a placenta is, position of baby, if you’re overweight, if they’re moving a lot. The NHS are doing a job, they’re there for a medical purpose to check the health of your baby, I think it’s unfair to say that the sonographer is being rude. You can pay for private scans if you care that much about the quality of imagery, they’re a much more relaxed environment.

@Ellie she’s allowed to be upset! The fuck?

@Nic of course! but calling the nurse or doctor rude because they couldn't get an accurate picture of the baby ,it's not the fault of the doctor or anyone else ...it's just what it is ...and it extremely common around this time for the ultrasound not to be clear for MANY people , although frustrating...it's no one's fault to blame tho..

@Holly and it’s not just the NHS that sometimes give out rubbish pictures. I’ve paid £70 for a private scan before and the photos I’ve received are next to nothing. It’s just blobs when I’ve been over 17 weeks pregnant.

@Nic ah now you gotta remember it also depends on what equipment they could of using ,not every place has the proper equipment, that's the company issue not a doctor's issue ...most doctors have to be really well trained to understand ultrasounds ,my doctor tried over 8 times to try to get a good photo and in the end I felt bad as I knew the doctor really tried ...it's not that big of a deal as like you said there is private scans and NHS scans ...I paid £100 for a private one and it was a better image , because the equipment was more up to date .,it's definitely isn't rude to treat people with respect when they're helping you try to see your baby x

The nhs don’t care as much about a perfect picture they just want to ensure baby is healthy. They try to get the best photo they can but it’s not always possible due to positioning/weight/etc. I’d recommend a private scan so you can have multiple pics & videos xx

It's a side picture. This isn't rude this will be the best picture they could get.

I totally feel you, if it were free it wouldn't matter. Imo, it's rude because you're asked to pay!

I did not get any pictures on my 20 week scan :(

Not being dramatic, mine were the same and only got 3 xx

I got 2 photos at my 12 week scan but the sonographer did flip the imagine to put the baby in the typical position to print it. I then did not get a single picture at my nhs 16 week scan, she wouldn’t entertain trying to get baby to move to get one at all. about to have my 20 week so wish me luck!

They didn’t even tell me they were trying to take any photos , now you have to pay for them I didn’t expect her to. I saw baby in full multiple times through the scan and every scan I’ve ever had before they say when they’re capturing photos. It just seemed very off , considering this is my second pregnancy in the same hospital. It takes a few seconds to take a nice photo, something we’ll have forever and for a lot of people the last chance to see baby until they’re born in another 20 weeks.

I agree they could’ve taken a better picture but I wouldn’t say it’s really rude, I think that’s a heavy judgement. Disappointing yeah. The nhs unfortunately are just understaffed and as a result a lot of the time they rush or don’t think about the small details that matter so much to us. Like I said before, a private scan is a good option to have before the birth 👍🏽

Hmmm did you ask them if they could take more? I guess it depends on the sonographer. Today mine told me she would try to get some clear photos, providing baby was in the right position as it’s not always easy. She asked how many I wanted and then printed them out and asked me to check if I was happy with them.
