Can Ultrasounds Be Wrong About Baby’s Size?

Just wondering.. has anyone had a baby estimated to be average-sized on both their 32 and 36 week ultrasounds, but ended up delivering a bigger baby (around 4 kg / 9 lbs)? I have such a strong feeling this baby will be big (especially since my first was large too) but the scans are putting them right around the 50th percentile. Curious if others have had similar experiences!

I was told in NCT that their estimations can vary up to 15% either side

Your growth chart takes into account previous pregnancies so your percentile may seem lower but actually it’s a similar weight. Following the curve on your chart and you can work out the expected weight at 40 weeks. My first was 98 percentile and my second is 55 but if I follow the curve the 40 week estimate is similar to what my first was. If the baby still seems smaller don’t worry everyone I speak to says they are wrong. My first was predicted well over 9lbs and was 8lb 10oz. So long as they are following the curve it doesn’t really matter size

My first was consistently estimated at 50th (we had many growth scans), and she was born 75th, 4kg at 40+8

My first was born at 8lb 11, had a growth scan with my second and I was convinced he was going to be bigger. He measured on the 55 percentile. Still wasn't convinced and thought the scan was going to be wrong but he was born at 7lb 6 ended up having to get my partner to go to the shop for newborn clothes 😅
