Big baby

Just had a growth scan at 35+3 and baby is 94th centile measuring 7 pounds 2. They’re making me feel like my baby is going to be a giant??? ‘It’s on the bigger side’. I don’t have GD or preeclampsia or anything - feeling normal. I’m also having an elective C. Anyone else in this boat? What are the risks of having a bigger baby? Every consultant keeps telling me that my baby will be normal size for my body.

My first baby was estimated 7lbs 11oz at 37weeks so probably not hugely different from yours. I had no GD or preeclampsia. He was born by c section at 38+6 weighing 8lbs 10oz and perfectly healthy.

Thank you this is really reassuring!

They told me my first was going to be 10lb+ and said its because I'm on the bigger side. No gd or anytging, He turned out to be 7lb 1oz! I'm sure your baby will be just fine no matter the weight and after all its just an estimate xx

I was really slim and didn’t have any GD, yet my first baby was 9lb 10oz at 41 weeks (growth scan estimated him 8lb at 37+5). This time, they’re estimating an average-sized baby, but I’m quite sceptical given my history. Despite the scan results, I’m leaning towards an elective C-section.
