Private scans

Am not having one. I have a 5 year old so think I’ll have one after so he can come as not sure he’s allowed to the NHS ones. Like you I didn’t the first time either, but do what you can afford/feels right for you xx

I was in 2 minds but decided to have a private one in a couple of weeks. First time mom and excited to see baby and check everything’s going ok and hear heartbeat etc. No right or wrong, think it just comes down to preference and budget of course

We're not. Groupon do deals on it but that £75 is gonna be spent on whatever we're missing as we still have pretty much everything from our first

I think if you’re happy enough to wait to 12 weeks, then don’t do it! They’re a lot of money. I’ve had a private scan at 6 weeks and will have another around 9 weeks but I had a missed miscarriage a couple of years ago which was discovered very unexpectedly at the 12 week scan. It was awful and I personally couldn’t go through that again.

Are there any risks to a private scan?

My first NHS scan isn’t until the end of june so ive decided to have a private scan. got one on groupon for such a good deal and truthfully im too excited to wait😂🥰 if you can wait then why not !!! im just eager lol i also have a 2 year old whos very excited for the baby in my tummy and he isnt allowed to my nhs scan so wanted him to be as involved as possible 🩵

Hey! I went and had one around 7 weeks as me & my partner are first time parents and it was just so worth it! Really made it real for us & put us at ease! 12 weeks is a long time to wait, so do what you want ultimately x

I have had 3! 2 on the NHS (4 and 7 weeks) due to being assaulted at work and for safety precautions. And one private at 9 weeks 5 days! Its an anxious period and if it settles your mind then I think its absolutely worth it x

I was so anxious and had no idea how far along I was and my NHS scan was not for a further two weeks. I went for a private scan and found out I was 8.5 weeks and it provided me with so much peace of mind that the little bean was okay! I got to see the heartbeat and got a videos sent to me from them so I can look whenever I feel worried and they provide photos :) it was definitely worth it and I feel I will go for another private scan again between my 12 and 20 weeks! I’m petrified of miscarriage and this just helps me xx

I think if you’re an anxious person then do it! I had private with my first at 10 weeks and then I’ve had one this time round with my 2nd at 8 weeks and I have another booked in at 10+3 just for the simple fact we’re on holiday when my 12 week nhs scan is and want to announce whilst we’re on holiday so technically won’t be having a 12 week scan until nearly 14 weeks. But it is completely up to you! Xx

I did four private scans in my last pregnancy due to anxiety 😔, they helped for a few days then was anxious again so I'm not bothering this time. I will do one private gender scan just so my first born can come and be part of it as NHS won't allow him.

I’m not having one, and didn’t with my last either even though my MIL kept begging me to have one 🙄 I feel like they can cause unnecessary anxiety as sometimes if it’s too early they won’t be able to see anything. Plus for the price I feel like I’d rather spend that money on a day out with my toddler or towards baby items.
