Cervical checks

Just a question, why are some women getting cervical checks? Is that a normal part of midwife checks, or is it done if you present with issues/ symptoms? I’m 37 nearly 38 weeks and never had one.

I've never had one, I don't think they are done as standard and just depends on your circumstances or NHS trust your midwife is with - I'm assuming if you are having a sweep they'll do a cervical check at the same time to see how far along you are!

With my first, I was checked at 39 weeks and offered a sweep.

39 weeks for NHS and then offer of a sweep depending on the outcome

I wasn't offered one until they offered the sweep at 40+4. But you obviously don't have to accept! I wasn't planning on having any at all, but decided I wanted to know what was going on! Personally glad I did as they were able to suggest positions I need to try in order to get baby to engage. :)

Thank you guys! I’m getting induced 39+3 so I doubt I’ll have one at all now x

If your getting induced you could possibly ask for one at worse they say no xx
