What about the people that can’t afford private scans? X
There is absolutely no reason they couldn't have written it down on a piece of paper versus verbally telling you. Sounds like you got a difficult sonographer ☹️
It never happened to me as I had a private one and then just had it confirmed at my 20week scan. I know of at least 4 people from different counties that have had this happen to them. But it’s policy in a lot of hospitals now. Just thought I’d let people know incase!
@Charlotte sadly it's not just one hospital/ sonographer it's multiple hospitals across the country. It makes no sense at all why they would bring this policy in. What difference does it make to the hospital or NHS if the gender is said verbally or written down
I believe it's a liability thing, so they will also say 'it looks like a girl/boy' rather than it IS one gender. I understand why they do it, the 20 week scan is predominantly to check for anomalies as well as an opportunity to find out gender if you wish.
Interesting! I thought that varied based on hospital but I need to do a blood test privately anyways so thinking to just find out the gender as part of that xx
