Chiropractor Opinions??

I had a bad experience at a chiropractor about three years ago, where I actually left the office with herniated discs that I didn’t have before. I’ve been hesitant to go back, but I started up treatment at a new doctor in a new state last week in hopes to alleviate some sciatic pain that I’ve been having. Has anybody had experience going to the chiropractor in later term pregnancy? I’ll be 30 weeks tomorrow and want to make sure that I am doing more good that I am harm. I do plan on speaking to my doctor on Wednesday since that’s when my next appointment is but just wanted to hear your own experiences!

I’ve been getting chiropractic care my entire pregnancy, and I’m 30 weeks today. My OB has never said anything to me about it, and I’ve experienced a lot of help with lower back and hip pain.

I had chiropractic care every week since the start of my first pregnancy in 2023. It’s important to ensure they know how to deal with pregnancy. I tried a number of chiropractors before I found the right one for me, main pros for me is soft tissue massage as well as adjustments, some just use the gun and I really don’t like that. Often a chiro will do a couple of adjustments and get you out the door ASAP which isn’t for me. I swear by a chiropractor as they will help prepare your body for labor as well as help reposition to relieve pain. For my first pregnancy I was only pushing for 28 minutes and I put that partly down to chiropractic care.

You should look into the "science" behind chiropractic care. Unfortunately it is based in pseudoscience and not supported by evidence- there is no evidence that it works, which I know is surprising. The positive results can be attributed to placebo and the risks are real. You should try physiotherapy or massage instead, which are supported by evidence.
