Weaning late

My little one turned 6 months today but we go on holiday on saturday so i didn’t want to start it until we come back, we go for a week. Does it matter if we start late or should i do it whilst im away?

Start when you’re both ready - a few weeks won’t hurt! My girl is 6.5m now and we’re still yet to get going properly.

Yeah it's more just a rough guide where their digestive system is ready at about 6 months, but there's other things that factor in anyway so it doesn't really matter if it's not bang on that time, we'll not be starting yet because he's not quite sitting up yet and still has his tongue thrust reflex! And yeah I don't blame you waiting till after holiday haha x

You can always try them on some food whilst your away if there’s some fruit of veg there you can mash it and make baby safe versions if not then don’t stress your baby will be fine starting when your back home

As others have said it’s a guideline not a deadline ❤️ my little boy still hinges forward in the high chair so we’re going to wait a few weeks. Do it when you’re ready and when it’s the least stressful for you xx

Thanks everyone i don’t feel as bad now, i think we will wait until after our holiday x

I’m in the exact same position. My LO in 6 months old today and we go away for a week on Sunday. I’m using this week to give him little bits etc and I’ll give him some fruit and bits whilst away but going to really start properly once we are back x
