Growth scan

We’ve just had one last week, they asked us if we knew what we were having and told us to look away when they were looking at bits that could give it away They basically just measure baby to make sure everything looks ok Our wee one way lying transverse so it made it hard for them to get all measurements but they reckon we’ve got a wee chunky 4lb6 baby in atm with 8 weeks to go

I've had a couple of growth scans and they've been really respectful about not revealing babys gender. As Sarah said, they ask if you know and tell you to look away when they're in the area. They'll measure everything they need to and will explain what they're measuring if you want them to. My last growth scan the sonographer let me have an extra look at babys face at the end which I really appreciated.

We had ours at 28 weeks they took 3 different measurements for us but our baby was in a very awkward position and said baby was measuring very small in the 6th percentile, we were referred to go for more scans every two weeks, I would say tho take the measurements with a pinch of salt as we had a private 4D scan a few days after our NHS growth and baby was measuring perfectly, think it really depends if your baby wants to play ball and be in a good position for measuring x

@Chloe I'm trying to take it with a pinch of salt, my friend has had 2 babies both of which were referred for growth scans because they were measuring small and the came out completely average size. I think they just like to be cautious. Based on what the midwife thinks is a foot in my diaphragm it's going to be an awkward baby 😂 x

I went for a growth scan at 31 weeks, they just measure a few bits like head, femur, stomach. I have a chunk measuring at 4lbs11 at the moment. They also asked me if I knew gender and I said yes but asked her to have another look just in case 😂 she did.

My bump was measuring under the 3rd centile, had the growth scan a few days later and he’s measuring in the 26th centile so all okay They take measurements of the thigh bones, the abdomen and head circumference and they also measure the amount of amniotic fluid around the baby, the scan itself took about 10 mins I was asked if I knew the gender as well because they tell you to look away when they’re measuring the thighs if it’s a surprise I asked for a picture as well 🥰
