Work focused interview

So I have a 1 year old at home and I’m pregnant (yes I know). I understand when my son turned one I need to have the interview but am I expected to get a job? My partner works and I stay at home with our son as that’s always worked for us and tbh I don’t see the point in paying someone else to raise my child. Has anyone been through this and can give any advice? Thanks

I’m guessing you mean with universal credit? In which no you won’t be expected to get a job. You don’t have to work until your child is 3 but you’ll have work preparation meetings, these shouldn’t apply to you after you tell them you’re pregnant with no2

@Bex Yes, ah okay I see. I did tell them I was pregnant but apparently I have to have the meetings until I’m 29 weeks then I can stop them until baby no 2 is 1. It seems like such a waste of their time!

Yeah, as stupid as it is they expect you still to be ‘preparing’ for work even though you’ll have another mat leave period 🤦‍♀️
