Possible miscarriage, what to expect?

Last Thurs, I woke up to some blood which then turned to brown discharge throughout the day accompanied by cramps. Went to hospital and scan showed that altho I’m 10 weeks, the scan looked like a 4/5 week baby. I was so out of it when hearing that, that I didn’t understand anything the lady said after nor ask any questions. She didn’t mention anything about seeing the embryo/checking for a heartbeat. (There is still reddish brown discharge now when I wipe) I’m back for an Ultrasound scan on Monday to see if baby has grown however I fully well have prepared myself that this is most likely resulting in a miscarriage. Has anyone been in a similar situation? If they do tell me I’ve miscarried, what happens next? Thank you.

If they tell you you've miscarried, then they'll discuss your options for what to do next. If the ultrasound shows that there is still tissue left behind, they'll give you the option of a d&c or a medical abortion, where they give you misotropol, which induces contraction type feeling in your uterus and helps your body expel any left over tissue.... i have been in a similar situation and feel for you. Did they send you for bloodwork?

Sorry to hear. At 4-5 weeks there will just be the sac and no embryo sighted. On Monday they will give you the choice to wait and miscarry naturally or offer medical management. It’s unlikely they will offer you surgery as the sac will be so small. I’ve been through this three times and it’s always tough. If you are bleeding now they may suggest you wait it out - hopefully it will be all over for you soon x

@Dianna no, they didn’t do any blood tests when I went the other day. Just blood pressure check and then a transvaginal ulttasound
