Thank you
hi Angie, i have GD and yes you are right pricking fingers does suck but just like Jaleesa said the worry on the child is weight. If not addressed properly via diet, medicine is the next step. They basically do not want us to have 10lbs babies because that is an emergency C section right there no questions asked. So far I am maintaining mines with good diet etc I had to change a lot of foods that I ate. I was diagnosed 2wks ago and have been doing my sugars since.
I WAS FALSELY DIAGNOSED WITH GD or TYPE 2 diabetes , but I do prick my finger 4 times a day 2 hours after meals and of course they prescribed me metaformin….. but the highest my sugar has been is 185 and that’s because I wasn’t watching what I ate …. But now I’m more careful and the lowest I got was 70 I was starving and the highest since dieting is 155 I thought blueberries and strawberries would be a good snack but it’s not …. But overall I’m not taking the meds and baby boy is overall healthy and 11/18 he weighted 3lbs 4oz I was 29 weeks and 5 days at that time …. I’m currently 32 weeks in a few days I’m not sure about his weight yet
My highest my blood sugar was 199 and that was after four slices of pizza after 6 hours of nesting
Yeah your seems to be a little high… after 6 hours and it’s that’s high ?
@Jassi no I ate after nesting for 6 hours took my sugar 2 hours after eating
After the two hours it was 199 ?
@Jassi yeah
@Angie try eating smaller portions and I learned pizza isn’t a good option for GD not even gluten free or veggie lol
@Jassi Thanks I’ll try that:)
Basically the biggest risk with gestational diabetes is the baby’s size. Babies that come from moms w GD have a higher chance of being much bigger and can have problems with obesity later in life. If your blood sugars are insanely high (300+) consistently your baby could also end up having issues with regulating its own blood sugars. The doctors won’t let you go that high though and will put you on insulin to help regulate your blood sugars.
