Gestational diabetes

Does anyone have experience with needing to use insulin to treat gestational diabetes’? I’m struggling to get my readings under control but at the same time I’m so scared to use insulin. Docs have assured me it’s safe for baby but I still don’t want to 😞

I had to use insulin for the last few months of pregnancy, just one injection at night. I was really scared about doing it but nothing else was working for my readings and I was actually losing weight as I wasn’t eating enough, as pretty much everything was spiking my levels. It was an adjustment but it did help with controlling my morning fasting levels, I did have to keep upping my dosage. Had a perfectly healthy little girl who’s now 19 months old, and no ill effects from the diabetes/insulin. No one wants to use it, but it will help x

I was just prescribed Metformin for GD and I am so scared to take it. My readings are fine except morning fasting. Insulin has fewer side effects I wish they gave me that. The Reddit group for gestational diabetes is very helpful & many ladies do great w Insulin

I have type 2 diabetes and had to take metformin and insulin. I had to inject myself 5x a day and take metformin 2x a day. Insulin is the safest option besides metformin. I was petrified of using the needles but it was mostly painless and my baby was born healthy.
