I have and I knew because I felt that I should've been bigger. I was planning on a birth center birth but risked out at 36wks due to my blood pressure in my 3rd trimester. When I was transferred to my new midwife she immediately noticed that my fundal height was measuring behind and had me see an MFM ASAP. I was warned that if the baby was small I'd be induced immediately. We packed the baby bag just in case. The MFM was very nice and confirmed that my baby was in fact behind and was measuring at 33 wks. I had a condition called IUGR which they suspect was due to my blood pressure. He was estimated to weigh 4lbs 8oz which was way behind. My amniotic fluid was also dangerously low and my stress test only went ok. I was checked into L&D immediately to be induced. Baby boy came out 4lbs 5oz on the exact day that I was 37wks. Stayed in the NICU for a week for weight gain and monitoring. He perfectly healthy and turns two in exactly one month from today.
The birth center midwives completely dropped the ball. I asked them multiple times about his size because I was concerned. We tried to manage my pressure naturally because it was only on the cusp of being high but they weren't able to take to risk. I'm grateful that I risked out and simply went with the flow. I kind of knew something was off. I had to let go of my crunchy birth plan. It wasn't that hard though. When things got serious I only cared about my baby surviving accepted the changes as they came. It mad everything so much easier. I also had a great support system.
You can message me if you have any questions. I wish you a healthy baby and smooth delivery.
Their measuring is just not always good. I’m one of 10 kids, my mom’s babies are in between 8 and 11 lbs, so big- but one time she had a baby that they were extremely worried about being too big, they were so concerned and pushy about it, she had almost all the kids at home, but this brother she had in the hospital because of all the drama- and he came out to be 9 lbs- not even close to two babies before him who was 10 lbs 8 oz. 🙄 then they were all concerned about his blood sugar but they couldn’t get blood out of him, and wouldn’t let my mom nurse him because they wanted to get a blood sugar reading first… so they pricked him like 12 times all over the place until my dad had enough, and forced them all out of the room and let her nurse him. So I wouldn’t worry about it. I’ve heard that their measuring can be off by three lbs. If the baby is in distress that’s different, could be cord issues, but I would definitely get a second opinion, and don’t just go by their size measurement
