I was told Iâd be induced at 39 weeks with gestational diabetes. Ended up being induced at 38+2 due to not gaining weight.
I was told if you are diet controlled and no concern at the growth scan/s they induce you at 41 weeks. I had a few episodes of reduced movements and ended up having a C-section on my due date because GD babies can get tired towards the end.
Anyone carrying large babies above the 99th centile? Estimated weight was 7lbs at 33 weeks x
I had GD both pregnancies and I had 2 big babies! My son I was induced at 39+3 and ended in emergency c section at 40+3,my 2nd was elective section at 38+2, my first was 10lb 6 and 2nd was 10lb 3
38 weeks for me. My little boy was born 7lbs 8inches.
I wasnât! I controlled mine really well through diet and metformin. They wanted me to be induced at 38 or 39 weeks but I managed to push that to 41. He came naturally at 39 weeks and weighed 6Ibs 14oz :)
Just to note that you donât have to be induced at all with GD. Itâs pushed on most mothers but if itâs well controlled (even with medication) then WHO guidelines do not recommend induction as necessary prior to 40+6.
38 weeks with my 1st They was gonna leave me until spontaneous labour with my 3rd but was induced for other reasons at 39 weeks x
I am diet controlled, have been offered an induction on my due date which I could have refused and then was told the longest Iâd be allowed to go is 40+6. I did however go in for reduced movements and they offered me a sweep as I had movements on the ctg scan so can depend! X
I was due to be induced the Saturday morning at exactly 38 weeks and she decided to start coming on the Friday morning but wasnât born till the Sunday đ I was going to have the balloon induction
38 weeks
Did not get induced and I was on insulin. Please do some research around it. Not everyone needs to be induced just because, I was prepared to fight induction until 41 weeks if I had to. But my bubba came at 38w6d anyway. Evidence based birth is a great website to have a look at.
But also - they tend to push inductions for GD mainly for âbig babiesâ they told me that I had a big baby- low and behold I birthed a 7p6oz baby- no where near big.
I was diagnosed with GD with my most recent pregnancy and I was able to control it with more sleep and extra protein intake. I was able to continue being seen by my midwife. I also delivered at 41w4d at the birth center and the baby was 9lbs and 2oz. I think it all depends on how the GD progresses. My trigger was poor sleep and not enough protein, so I was able to keep my blood sugar in the normal rangeâŠBut if your GD is under control and the baby is progressing normally, you shouldnât need to induce unless you want to.

I was told I would be induced at 39 weeks but I didnât. A week before my induction date I went into labour naturally. My little girl was born 7lbs 9. Labour was fine and she was born as very healthy baby no complications.
