I didn’t stop HIIT/bootcamps at all during my two pregnancies, just adjusted exercises and intensity if and when necessary - trust your body. I had full support from my midwives and obgyn plus very supportive instructors and did my last session on the days I went into hospital.
The advice I’ve read is to only do moderate exercise although I knew of someone who carried on doing CrossFit throughout her pregnancies and all 3 of hers were fine.
I have slowed down my exercise
I am 20 weeks now and haven’t stopped any of my higher intensity workouts, body pump, spin etc. the general advice I have received from midwife and gp is that if you were doing those workouts before pregnancy then you can keep them up. Obviously there are a few specific exercises to avoid while pregnant. I even questioned whether I could still do certain exercises on my back during pregnancy and my midwife said a couple of minutes to train chest laying down etc is fine but be mindful of weight and being able to get back up with limited strain to abs during 3rd trimester and when your bump starts bumping! She said it’s more important to stay active as it’ll all help with labour in the end
I ran all the way until two weeks before,.I know it's not body attack but it's still high intensity impacts. I think just listen to your body and follow midwives advice. My midwife was really pleased that I remained active x
I stopped running and Body combat at 24 weeks due to pregnancy tachycardia. I was regularly going up to 204 BPM on runs. I continued weights and yoga and was told I could do anything I’d been doing before pregnancy throughout.
@Emma Cunningham I do enjoy a 5k on the treadmill but recently it’s been more… walk, run 🤣
@Valentina what do you think of Barre? It’s not really appealed to me but I’m interested in some new classes that I could do throughout. Started looking at Pilates too…
@Cae I’m hoping I get some energy back in second trimester as the first trimester has sucked me dry of motivatjon 🙏
I feel you girl 😂🤍
I like it, it complements my weight training well! A lot depends on the teaching style - my lady is very cardio-forward, fast tempo and high reps. I definitely prefer it to Pilates, I am not much of a “sloooow and controoollledddd” person 😬
I’m 20 weeks and do CrossFit and yoga 4 times a week each. CF definitely a lot of HIIT and heavy resistance training (90kg+). I’m probably going about 80% effort that I could put in and if I need to stop for a breather I do but haven’t really changed anything other than that! Only movement I have had to adapt so far is burpees just so I don’t slam my belly into the floor! As long as you’re used to the intensity pre-pregnancy keep with it if it makes you feel good! Check out @periodoftheperiod on instagram just put a post up about a study on intense resistance training, so not HIIT exactly but I’m sure there are other studies you can review to give you piece of mind.
Did till 36 weeks had baby few days later and hope to go back around 10 weeks post partum 🙏 a good instructor that will offer you adjustments is key. No need to stop if you feel good and listen to your body.
I’m still doing some intense workouts at 32 weeks, but it is difficult! Just pacing myself and not being as ‘powerful’ in some of those moves like I used to be able to. If you feel you can do it, do it! 💪 (Then go home and eat chocolate) 💁♀️

I had to stop due to cramps and brown spotting the day after vigorous exercise 😞 so now just stepper, walking, treadmill or Rig class
I’ve stopped my HIIT at 12 weeks, but still doing Barre at 21 weeks.
