Midwife and consultant led - WALES

I’ve just relocated and met with my midwife yesterday.. she’s advised that I’ll be part midwife and part consultant led. I didn’t have this with my last pregnancy, so could anyone share what this actually means? She wasn’t that clear when I asked and I frankly just didn’t understand 🫠

I would assume that you have some risk factors which is why consultant is involved but most of your care can be by midwife? I've had one consultant appointment early on and won't have any more.

Lauren! I’m the same. I moved from Bristol and transferred into Withybush. And exactly the same. Midwife and consultant led - so confused. Had my first meeting with consultant on Monday and she explained it a lot more with the pack and what stages you see the various people. So confusing though 🤣

@Lauren haha no way 🤣🤣 small world!! This is my first and I’m 24 weeks & yes 28 weeks for my next scan and consultation appointment. There are so many names I never know who I’m with (so bad). Having to go to two different places in the hospital threw me off too. So different to a midwife in Portishead and just a scan at southmead every now and and again haha. xx
