Vitamins

I’m 10w+ 3 and just wondering is it best to take the folic acid all the way through pregnancy or stop at 12 weeks? I’m an ivf 1st time pregnancy and my clinic told me to buy folic acid and vit D, and they said take both until I’m 12 weeks, but I bought some of the pregnacare vits yesterday as I’ve been a little off food n struggling to eat loads, so i thought these would be better as they contain iron and b12 as-well, but I see they say to use all the way through so i am little confused 😂 My next scan isn’t til I’m 13w+ 1, before I can ask at the hospital so just wondered what everyone else is doing. Thanks in advance for the help!

I use pregnacare all the way through

12 weeks is the minimum. But ideally all the way if you can. I had to stop with my first pregnancy as they were making me feel sick. But no harm in making sure your vitamins are topped up the whole way through!

IVF pregnancy too. So you only need to take until 12 weeks. But most pregnancy multivitamins contain it, and it will be fine to take throughout. I’m currently just taking folic acid and a high dose vitamin D. But once I’m in the second trimester I might switch to a pregnancy multivitamin only. That’s what I did my first pregnancy.

@Ella thanks! This is what I’m currently taking too, just switching to the pregnacare next week for a few added vits cause I’m not eating a lot atm! 😊

@Danielle amazing thanks! Yes this is what I’m planning to do just got confused cause it had follic acid in too lol makes sense now!

You can but you don't need to

You should take them for at least the first trimester, but there's no harm in continuing after that. I've been taking the same pregnancy multivitamin (including folic acid and vitamin d) since before I got pregnant with my first in 2019

Good I had the same question! Also relieved I'm not the only one provably not eating enough to get the vitamins!
