@Cara diagnosed at 28 weeks
For me, they asked about my diet and exercise, checked I was ok using the testing kit they’d given etc. and then they talk about potential outcomes - e.g., medication if you can’t control glucose through diet and exercise etc.
I was diagnosed with my first at 8 weeks pregnant( really early ) and then again now with my second at 9 weeks. You basically need to monitor your blood sugar they will give you all the equipment, if your numbers are still high after eating then you will start metformin and or insulin. Mine is very aggressive and I take two types of insulin and medication. But it is pretty ok honestly, you watch your diet a bit more and you should be ok! 😘
First week or so will be trial and error. I got diagnosed at 12 weeks this time. You'll probably need to do your bloods 4x a day an hour after meals, but this could vary depending on severity x
can i ask if you had any symptoms beforehand? i’m high risk for developing gestational diabetes as my dad was type 1 and my BMI is on the higher side🥲
I didn’t have any symptoms, I had the test due to my BMI
@Aimee no I didn’t, that’s why it took me by surprise when I got diagnosed. even reading up on gestational diabetes after my diagnosis the only symptom I’d say I noticed I had was tiredness but pretty sure we’re all suffering from tiredness since we’re pregnant 😂
Thank you everyone. Feeling surprisingly calm about the whole thing, I guess we’ll what happens as time goes on
Has anyone experienced blurry vision with gestational diabetes? 🙂
Getting tested for this for the 2nd time on Tuesday no idea why think it’s because baby measuring big
How many weeks were you diagnosed at? I’m going for the test tomorrow! ☺️
