Weaning

Anyone else really struggling with weaning? We tried puree for a month ish, not the most consistent each day and he just didn’t like them. We’ve now moved to baby lead weaning now he’s turned 7 months and he’s just not having it. You put food and a toy in front of him he will only go for the toy. He will put everything in his mouth but food and I just don’t know what to do anymore. Any tips would be really appreciated as I’m getting so stressed out by it all

My advice would be to not put any distraction there, have only music on in the background and just let him explore with foods he can mush, hold, squish. Also eat together so he watches and copies

We eat together and limit distractions. I don’t normally have toys there, it was just a test to see if he would pick anything up when in his highchair and put it in his mouth if that makes sense

That does make sense, let him just explore, for the time being, things will eventually go into his mouth.

Try finger foods or yogurt my son is going through this and I can tell you now I know how you feel been weaning him since 6 months and he will take some food off spoon but now we’re giving him chips crisps sausages chicken baby bell cheese fruit and he eat it

Yeah try and avoid toys

At this point it's ok if they aren't actually tasting. As it's also about exploring textures with their hands too. In time when ready they will taste

My little boy just puts food him his mouth and spits it out again.. trying a mix of BLW and puree
