My 18 month still doesn’t say any words. He is in speech therapy. Look into Early intervention in your area.
Mine understands pretty much everything, and he signs a few words, but he doesn't reliably say much of anything. Mostly babbles still. Our dog is Abby and he just calls her aaah-aah. He follows directions really well (go get your shoes, get your coat, throw that away, etc) and we read books all day everyday, so I'm not too worried yet. My first boy had speech therapy (selective mutism) so I'm not surprised he's taking a bit longer to speak.
My son was a late talker. I would ask your pediatrician for a referral for speech/ early intervention
I’ll look into early intervention. I also forgot to mention we speak multiple languages at home so I wonder if that isn’t part of it as well
