Weaning advice

Hi all, Can people please give a run down of how they're doing weaning I've done a week of purees - and want to start incorporating finger food this week Just feeling abit unconfident on where to start. Any advice on what to give, how much to cook and how mushy. Pics? Examples of your weekly menu? How much to give - my son seems to be eating so much more that I thought. Books say 1-2spoons to start and he's been eating a full bowl of puree.

I'm new to all this too. Mine has a bowl of porridge in the morning which removes one of his bottles, and then something small for tea (puree food) I'm scared to start finger foods as I'm so paranoid he'll choke

I've just started weaning for the past few days and I'm going straight to finger foods and lumpy purees. I started with a banana, I gave it two ways, mashed up but on a pre loaded spoon and I made a banana pop. Which is where you cut the banana to a size baby can hold with the skin on, then you remove the skin from the top so baby can eat that bit. She has also had greek yogurt, with raspberries and water melon fingers Yesterday I sliced sweet potato in to rounds and baked with a little olive oil for about 30 mins, I then mashed half with paprika and cumin and cut the other half to fingers. Today we will have rolled oats with banana mixed in. The main rule is that you need to easily squidge the food between your fingers, and finger food needs to literally be the size of your finger. Smaller foods like cherry tomatoes, berrys need to be cut into smaller pieces or mashed up. I am led by her with hunger cues. I found when she is done she throws the spoon and messes about. She is eating a good few spoons.

Check out Solid Starts. They have an app and website, Instagram page etc. I find it so useful for knowing how to prepare and serve different foods ☺️
