Yes, with supervision. We use open cups for meals and straw cups in between. We switched to metal cutlery a few months back as she got so frustrated with the plastic ones.
I am going to go out and get him better cutlery and bowls, I think because he isn’t great with the plastic ones I haven’t thought about swapping them but he might do better with the metal ones
I started open cup drinking today as it’s one of nursery’s learning skills so hopefully eventually he gets the hang of it
@Amy they just stab so much better! Can’t pick up much with a plastic fork with the force a toddler can put into it, more often than not she was just pinging the food into the floor by accident. Good luck :)
Yes - have only ever used open cups though as he couldn’t handle the flow of the valve free beakers. I started him with the dinky cup and now he’ll use either that or the doidy cup. He does really well tbh x
We found plastic forks pretty useless it was too hard to pick anything up for me to preload it nevermind my toddler having a go lol I've had good success with these (i preload it for him and sometimes he tries himself) https://amzn.eu/d/ak465Rl For the open cup, any chance my son gets he sticks his hands in for a splash haha
We had no success with trainer cups, so we’ve been using an open cup since about 7 months. There were a lot of spills at first, but she’s great with it now and woe betide the person who doesn’t use a coaster around her 😂 We switched to metal cutlery around 12 months cause she kept stealing our forks!! So we got her some of her own. She loves them. Much easier to use than her baby cutlery, I’m sure your son will get on great with them!
Yes my son can drink from a cup. We use the doidy cup. He uses both plastic and metal cutlery. The metal forks are easier to pick up stuff like pasta
