Gutted! Deflated! Sad!

I'm on day 2 of testing my blood sugars, and already I'm above target 3 times. My fasting blood sugar levels are above target. Is there anything I can do to prevent this. I tried eating a late snack a few nuts, but it hasn't worked. I really don't want to be put on medication. It's stressing me out and making me feel sad as I'm already watching what I'm eating and how much of it 😩 there was someone on this app who has been doing this for 10 weeks who has 2 red scores and everything is on green and has been put on meds. I just feel so much pressure with this. Any tips?

It’s really hard girl I’ve been through all the motions a lot of it in the beginning is trial and error to see what works with your body. What things have you tried eating and how far along are you x

@Jessica I'm 29+5 I'm eating eggs, avocado. Yoghurt, mixed berries with chia seeds and flaxseed. Wholemeal wraps with cheese, avocado and peppers. Chicken stir fry with veg on the side and new baby potatoes I'm doing my daily walks. There are a few things I can do like walk after every meal. But balancing that whilst being in my 3rd trimester is difficult too. I'm just tired and exhausted

I completely get it, it’s so hard and as the end gets closer I’ve been limited to how much I can walk cos it’s just so painful. With the fasting sugar I’ve been told there’s nothing much to do except medication so I’ve been put on metformin. I would suggest trying to test your sugars earlier in a morning and see if they are lower, I know that seems backwards but that’s how mine works, the longer I leave it to test the higher my fasting sugar is.

And just remember you are doing your best, there are a lot of people out there that don’t even change their diet after being diagnosed so you are doing amazing! Xx

More water. Exercise. What's your diet like?

For example I used to leave it as late on in the morning as I could before testing and then eating but that was completely wrong. I then started testing around 9am and still had borderline results but I then tested at 7am and am actually now below the target and then that helps me keep my numbers in track because I have something to eat and keep topping up with snacks to keep my numbers in range :)

Everyone's different so its not worth comparing to anyone else. I could eat sandwiches, icecream, McDonald's and be totally fine - couldn't toach pasta though! I never got high readings after meals as i ate pretty low carb anyway - apart from when I had treats listed above. My fasting sugars could not be controlled - cutting out carbs, little carb before bed, bedtime exercise, snack before bed, no snack before bed - i tried it all My consultant said there is literally nothing you can do to control fasting sugars, it's the placenta. I did end up on medication - metaformin and insulin at bedtime. I was gutted at first but got used to it. Had to increase my insulin throughout the pregnancy as I needed it higher and higher to control fasting. Nothing I could do could prevent it
