Canesten in pregnancy?

I am just over 22 weeks and I think I have thrush, naturally won’t be able to get a GP appointment tomorrow and I’m at work. I work by a Boots so was thinking of just grabbing some Canesten during my lunch hour, but is this safe?

Check the little info leaflet again but I’m 99% sure it specifically says safe for pregnancy in there.

Yes that's all the doctors would prescribe anyway x

Thank you so much ladies, would you stick with the cream or do you think the pessary would be okay?

You could always ask the boots pharmacists opinion on best one given your symptoms. They may be able to advise but also might just say go to docs in which case Id just get the cream and call docs on monday to make sure

Hey girl! Stick with the cream only, but I must warn you the chemist won’t let you have it if they know you’re pregnant they are really funny about giving anything like that to you when you’re pregnant! (I’ve had thrush on and off the entirety of this pregnancy) The GP can prescribe you a pessary (and cream obviously) but you aren’t allowed to use the applicator you just pop it in not very deep like a tampon as they don’t want it to go near your cervix. I got one prescribed the other day and it was different to one you can buy over the counter I’m not sure if there is actually a difference that makes it safer in pregnancy but i’d stick with the cream till you find out! The pessary has worked though I’m fiiiiinally thrush free and I got my partner to use the cream for a week!

I had thrush recently and called the GP, the nurse practitioner called me back and prescribed me the pessary & the cream. It also saved me like £15 🥰
