It’s between 8-12 weeks for your booking appointment so as long as it’s not ouwith those timeframes, it’s normal. I’d recommend a private scan if you can beforehand to ease your worries x
It's very normal not to have an appt in the early part of pregnancy because unfortunately, if anything does go wrong in those early weeks there's nothing they can do. However it's worth noting that you don't need to see your GP, you can go on the website of the hospital you want to use and self-refer to their maternity services 😊
Booking appointment with midwife is normally 8-10 ish weeks and first scan about 12 weeks. I’ve never contacted my gp about my pregnancy only the hospital to self refer
You can self refer to the midwives & you can also refer yourself to the hospital you plan on having the baby. If you let them know you have history of having a miscarriage depending on the hospital midwives they can see you. I started seeing both when I was round about 5/6 weeks.
Mines bang on 8 weeks next Tuesday with midwife but I only say GP at 5 weeks to be referred to early pregnancy team due to frequent losses last year otherwise they just leave you to it unfortunately
Your first appointment with a midwife will be your booking appointment between 8-12 weeks. You do not need to see your GP.
It must be different in different locations as I contacted my gp at 4 weeks and they booked me into see a midwife at 5 weeks. She then referred me to Epu and I managed to get my first scan at 6 weeks with them. But maybe because I’ve had an ivf pregnancy it could be different. Book one privately if you’re feeling anxious
You would see the midwife first! My first baby it was around 7 weeks but with this pregnancy it's at 9 weeks. X
@Lisa I meant the midwife
@Jen 10 weeks should be fine. Then your scan will be booked for around 12 weeks! Although mine's past 13 weeks this time x
My booking appointments have all been between 10 and 12 weeks followed by the 12 week scan
If you have had a miscarriage they allow a reasurance scan at around 6-7 weeks. Alternatively I would 100% get a private one around 7 weeks. I wouldn’t wait until the 12week nhs one to confirm if everything is ok x
Booking needs to be before 10 weeks as you need bloods doing x
@Emma I've moved trusts and this one doesn't do anything before 8 weeks regardless but my old trust would allow it from the moment you tested positive!

I’ve booked a private scan already at 9 weeks x
I’ve just booked mine 6wks and got an automated email saying they would get back to me before 9wks. Which was a bit different to my past experience where I rang the maternity care number and the midwife rang me back 2 days later and got me in on the same week.
Booking appointments in the UK start at 8 weeks.
