Post birth smear

Has anyone else been told they don't need the 3 month post birth smear? The GP nurse just sent me away and said my smears are up to date and last one being normal I'm not due one for another year, doesn't matter I've just had a baby...?! Yet the midwives were adamant I'd need one 3 months after giving birth. So confusing everyone not being on the same page!

I've never heard of having one 3 months pp. Maybe contact your midwife team to clarify and if it is the case, ask them to contact your gp. I know that if you've missed a smear due to be pregnant, they advise to wait until 12 weeks pp so that may be what they meant but have misphrased it

I've never heard of that either. Unless you fall at needing it now I'm not sure what that's about

Mine was due while I was pregnant and couldn’t have it and was told I had to wait 3 months pp to get it maybe they meant that

Mine fell due a month after having baby and my GP said it’s safe to have it from 3 months postpartum so I should book it in. Were you due one?

Same as above. Mine was due whilst pregnant and they said to wait at least 3 months after the birth

As others are saying you only have to wait until 3 months postpartum if you were due one while you were pregnant. If your routine one isn’t until next year then no need to have an extra one.

Thanks all! I feel reassured. The midwives didn't specify. Just said I had to have it. I am not due one so all good I guess 🙏
