Had my 34 week midwife appointment today and came out feeling so deflated. I have consultant appointment next week to discuss c-section (I had an emergency with my first). Was talking with my midwife and said I was hopeing to have baby between 37-38 weeks pregnant and she said to me don’t get your hopes up. I am stressing because it’s the only week that I will have childcare sorted for my older child. As the only family I have are my dad and step mum and they live 3.5 hours away so we have found a week that works best for them and my older one will be on half term from school. (She is 6 so still needs looking after). Just not sure what the consultant will say as if they won’t let me and want me closer to my due date then going to be stuck with no childcare.

They do sections from 39 weeks due to the benefits for the baby from my understanding. I think they would only consider earlier than that if medical reason s.

They won't give you a section earlier than what is considered best for your baby just because of childcare issues! If needs be, you ask a friend or you get a childminder to have him after school so u have extra time

your birth won’t revolve round your childcare issues unfortunately. They barely want to do births between 37-38 weeks for actual medical reasons
