Gunk eye

Baby is 3 weeks old and we had our appointment to get discharged from midwife care. She has been having a little secreting from her eye which we clean with cooled boiled water. Midwife asked if we've been to the GP or called 111 or the E&A but I didn't think it is any serious. In fact I was expecting the midwife to give some advice for it. Has anyone been advised what to do? I need to call the GP anyway to confirm if they received her registration application and will ask but that would be on Monday.

My baby is 2 weeks old and this happened 3 days ago. I read online about using your own breast milk and no lie it worked like a charm! We also used cooked boiled water in the morning and breast milk too :)

We have this too - it’s a blocked tear duct. If it’s red AND gunky then you need to go to the GP or A&E as pink eye in young babies is dangerous x

My 4 week old has this but GP thinks it's conjunctivitis so we now have eye drops as his eye is swollen too

From Googling pink eye and conjunctivitis that doesn't seem to be the case as her eye is white and clear. Will keep an eye if that changes.

Mines had a gunky eye since he was born a week ago but this morning it'd started pussing yellow, I took him to utc and we got prescribed drops

We had that and her eye was very swollen as well, but with breast milk, it was gone the next day.

My son had this but used cooled boiled water to clean it and only lasted about a week x

Breast milk clears up any eye gunk immediately. It's amazing!x

Thank you ladies I will give the breast milk option a go ☺️
