Changing nappies?! Am I being neglectful?

Okay I’ve just read a post on here about a mother who doesn’t want any male to change her baby unless it is the dad and only her mum or grandma. On the chat it also said about going to a private place to change them. I have never done that. I am fine with in laws and my parents change her and I’ll do it in the living room in front of others if it is just a wee. Is this bad? So many people were saying only the mum or dad to change and in private.

Do what you feel good about. Don't know why it should be only the parents to change the nappies or why you shouldn't do it in front of friends.

I don't think it's neglect as much as safeguarding, everyone has a line of who they would allow to change a nappy or give a bath, it's up to you where that line is. I'm TTC still so things may change, but I work in a school I see so much trauma and adults trusting the wrong people around kids, So I would think my line would be further back than most Like I know it's wrong and people can argue all they like, but I would allow the men my side to change, but not my husband's side, they are all married in and I don't know them as well, where as my side are blood males with kids of their own Basically if id be absolutely mortified if my boob popped out during a feed, then that person shouldn't be wiping my baby's butt 😆 somewhat reasonable rule, because pro or con feed, some people just make it uncomfortable. Oh and private nappy changes seem weird, if that level of untrust is present , these people shouldn't be in babys life

My BIL & SIL have never let anyone else change their daughter, 1 year on and she has started nursery and she screams when anyone else goes to change her nappy and they complain when she is sent back from nursery dirty. I’m a teacher so I understand the importance of safeguarding etc, but I am absolutely going to be letting my family and even closest friends change my little one.

I'm the same, close family can change my baby's bum. No one will change the toddlers anymore 🥲😂 I also do it in the same room, maybe to the side so we're out the way. If you changed them in public with anyone and everhone to see then yeah for sure! Completely understand the safeguarding but if you Completely trust these people then it shouldn't be an issue x

I don’t have this fear with most of my family because they are already safe people however my old coworker she doesn’t know about kids and doesn’t have any made this weird question comment asking about my sons diaper print she didn’t know it was a diaper print then proceeded to say she don’t want to change diapers she worried about being peed on hair pulled other things

Do whatever you are comfortable with. Both of my parents have changed my daughter because I trust them. We do have a designated spot in my home and theirs to change her but it’s honestly for our backs more than anything. Now with my in-laws, never. My FIL is a complete creep so I never even left him alone with my daughter. My MIL said she didn’t know how to change a girl because she only had boys 🙄 and I always changed her in private in public just because you don’t know who’s around

I would love if my dad or father in law volunteered to change a nappy 😅 But neither my dad nor my FIL ever offered. Soo….its just me, my husband or my mom anyway
