Gestational Diabetes

I have joined the GD (gestational diabetes) club for the second time! Two for two. In my last pregnancy, I was able to keep it under good control with diet. The goal is to do the same this time area. I have some concerns. This time around, I'm not as active. During my last pregnancy, I was still working at a hospital; long shifts, lots of walking. This time, I work from home, and I'm mostly sedentary throughout the day. I think my only saving grave will be that the weather is getting nicer and I will be able to get outside more for daily walking. If you're a mamma going throughout it, drop a comment down below about your progress! Cheers to making it this far, and I hope we all have safe deliveries of beautiful babies ❤️

I just got my reading back and it says 187 mg/dL is that gd?

Most likely. But there is still a possibility that you could pass the 3hr. I think most places the threshold is about 140.

Ugh I hate to have to test again. What was your reading if you don’t mind me asking?

I have 7 more Mondays to go I was diagnosed with GD At 6 weeks pregnant I was 6.5 A1C and at my 20 Weeks pregnant 5.0 A1C And my Doctor was so shocked not many pregnant women can do that but it can be done you can control all your Cravings and it's so worth it at the end 🥰 I'm so proud of my self and I'm proud of others making it this far

@stephanie , my reading was 179.

@Ashley , it is very uncommon to be diagnosed so early. I was tested early in my pregnancy because I had GD with my first. And I was fine. So, I had extra time to indulge in certain foods. And just so everyone is aware, GD is not the mother's fault!!!! You can thank your partner, as it's his DNA that makes up the placenta and placenta is what causes the higher sugar levels

Mine was 177 and I'll have to go for the 3h Test. My number is pretty high so I'm freaking out that I won't pass and actually have GD. I love carbs and chocolate, what can I say?!? 🤷🏻‍♀️ Just feeling really guilty that I've hurt my baby in the long run. 😔

@TK you can still have carbs and chocolate, just in moderation. If you don't pass the 3hr test, your provider should refer you to diabetes specialist and they will go over a diabetic diet and explain how much is too much
