Is my Door Dasher in the wrong for refusing to bring our food to the door?

We ordered from a local restaurant. Pretty quickly she picks up our order but then says it'll take 20-30min to deliver, we check the app and she's at a location much farther away than the location we chose. We made sure on the app that the restaurant we selected was the right one, it should've been 2.5 miles away but she was more like 15 miles away. After the wait she pulls into the parking lot and texts my husband that she's not bringing the food to the door. He goes out there to meet her and she stayed in her car, had a attitude with him and told him the app told her to go that far away location, he tells her that he selected the one 2.5 miles away and isn't sure why it'd send her to the other location (the location she was sent to wasn't even an option for us to select on the app, so it's impossible that it would be a mistake on our end). I get her frustration, obviously we're frustrated too, but to refuse to bring the food to the door and then have an attitude when my husband goes out to meet her in the lot? That's where I feel like she's in the wrong. IMO she should've canceled it if it was going to put her in such a shit mood.

To me it's like, girl you're unhappy about driving that far and I'm unhappy about receiving cold food and waiting twice as long, but it's still your job to deliver it to my door and you chose to go through with the order so I feel like you should finish the job properly? The app did us both dirty, don't take it out on me yk??

Idk in some places you have to go to the vehicle to get your order for safety reasons… but just because she had to go further shouldn’t be a reason for that

@Jade I didn't know that! For our apartments it's always been delivered to the door, she texted him and told she wasn't bringing it to us because she was mad about the app mixing up the locations

I think the store you ordered from may have had the option to refuse the order and did so for some reason. It then got kicked over to the other location, and she's salty she had to drive all that way. Maybe she didn't realize she did until she had already picked the food up. I definitely don't think she's in the right to refuse to bring you food though, unless there was a legitimate reason, like there were multiple units in the building and she didn't know where to go from there.

I would have reported it as didn’t receive it

I stopped door dashing for this reason they always refuse to come to my door

@Shore We did receive it, I'm just annoyed by the attitude she gave us when it wasn't our fault

Yeah that is soo confusing!! 🫤 What does her being frustrated about the order mix have to do with you?? I know it’s been a while since I’ve done Uber eats but never heard of not bringing it to the door before. I’d give 1 star and no tip. 🤨

We've been asked to go get things from delivery drivers because of weight and an injury which is fine, but a bad mood is getting a bad review and no tip.

I would definitely report

@Katelynn I would've even been more understanding if she was like "Hey, I didn't realize the drive was that far, it was a big hassle, could someone please meet me at my car to pickup the order?" but she was pissed off at us

I had someone once tell me that she wouldn’t bring the food to my porch because my grass wasn’t cut

@Asha that's a new one! 😆

My mom was a DoorDasher I also like to DoorDash from time to time it isn’t your fault it’s DoorDash fault and most likely the place you ordered from didn’t accept or something went wrong. GPS can also mess these things up. She can also see how far it will be to pick the order up and back by the miles it shows. She had no right to blame you it’s not your fault and she should’ve brought the food to you as that’s kinda a reason you order the food to not have to get out the house. This wouldn’t have worked with me because I tell them to leave the food at my door for my safety reasons. I wouldn’t have walked to their car to get the food. I have never asked someone to come to my car to get their food they tipped me to bring to them. I would definitely contact DoorDash about it because one it wasn’t on you and two it’s just not nice to be like that to someone who didn’t do anything but order their food. I’m sorry you experienced that.

I would also contact about your food being cold because of this situation to see if DoorDash may have the location messed up on DoorDash or see what may have happened. You may get refunded for the issue as food being cold is never good.

That sounds familiar to me as I’ve experienced something similar as the customer and the delivery driver. There’s often days when I DoorDash that the app is down so it can delay deliveries but I always try to communicate with customers about it. She was probably overwhelmed with your order having the same issue as she probably had experienced a bunch of times that day. I sometimes have to veer off to a second location to reroute correctly— which is probably what she did or the app sent her another delivery she accepted. And as you and her said, it sent her to a different location of the same business which is also another common occurrence for DoorDash to send you to the farther location of a popular business. I can go on a longer spiel but I wont lol I hope that info helps!

@FairyMother 🦖🌸 I was so mad lmaooo

It’s literally called DOOR dash not “you come and collect it from my car” dash

Personally if that was me delivering the food, I’d still deliver and apologise on behalf of the app regardless of circumstance. Then would offer to go to the restaurant to get fresh hot food cuz it’s not fun having cold food and I wouldn’t be happy receiving that. Hopefully you get a refund and can give her some feedback. I dunno how door dash works but I assume its like uber eats so then I’d just complain about service and that the food was cold

@Sera Kay ✨ exactly! 🤣

I used to drive for doordash. I only ever asked customers to meet me to get their food if I couldn't see their front door from the parking lot or stairs for my own safety, as a female doing the deliveries alone. And often to males. Which was a recommendation on the dasher app. It was never because I was mad or upset about an order. And this was before the pandemic when you had to interact with people and not just drop off the food then text that it was at their door. Definitely make a report/complaint about that driver. You should not have had service like that. Even if she was frustrated. It was not your fault.

I accidentally chose the second option but I meant to choose the first. She is wrong in my opinion

I used to door dash a lot and I even took my kids to do it with me, I have never not brought food to the door unless it was like a locked apartment I couldn’t get in to… that’s wild to me the nerve of some dashers

Honestly she was probably doing uber eats while doing dd cuz my husband used to do this and with uber u have to deliver that first cuz if u go the opposite direction u get penalized. She is totally in the wrong she shouldn’t have went in the opposite direction or taken the other order. Dd will not do that. I would have reported her

As someone who used to doordash sometimes the app would just mess up and send us to the wrong place or have a completely wrong address for the store. However, no matter how 'difficult' of a time you had delivering doesn't mean you can be rude and just not finish your job. 🙄 people these days

my boyfriend does doordash sometimes, fully on her. I dont know why people choose to doordash if they’re gonna regress. luckily, we’ve been getting the dashers that will go the extra mile lately !!

I think DoorDash is having mapping service issues because this sounds like a very similar experience I just had like 2 days ago smh I ordered tacos from a restaurant pretty similar distance in miles away and the driver called me saying the location of where it sent him was a Walgreens parking lot I ended up having to call him and direct him to my address, and also retype my address for him through DoorDash messages to put in his maps to get to the right location took the same time extra 20-30 min. Just trying to get to me... I now don't trust that updated car 🚗 pin on their location because it's in accurate... but nonetheless her attitude was not granted nor needed and if she had that much trouble then could always get a different job that has a lower stress level then bringing people food, some people will fo the minimum and others will go the extra mile although my doordasher took hella long n got lost he still made it his mission to deliver the food and complete the job he asked

That I give a good rating as he had to drive around and that's not there fault but DoorDash computer tech problems, that's like uber not giving the right maps and the uber you order takes you to the wrong location even though you gave the right address but that's what the driver had and was using Their app to drive. It's a handicap; but hopefully you enjoyed the food 💕 I know I enjoyed mine given the wait but full belly no complaints

I’ve door dashed, I can confirm they do occasionally send you to random places. It’s stupid. I have had people meet me at my car for apartments, college dorms, places with no parking, etc (especially when heavily pregnant) but just cuz you’re in a bad mood? Come on. Grow up. You are literally choosing to do door dash, if doing what it entails bothers you stop doing it? Like it’s not even like you gotta quit, just stop booking new times. 💀 if my dasher nicely texted me hey can you come pick it up there’s no parking here, I’m pregnant and it’s hard to walk up 3 flights of stairs ight bet. Fair. But if I got a house, or it’s cuz you’re in a mood, nah. No tip, and I’m complaining to door dash.

my friend doordashes and apparently the app is constantly getting messed up w orders and directions idk. he’s had issues many times. the door dashers attitude would have bothered me too bc she could have just explained or cancelled instead of being rude. i wouldn’t go all out and call and report and complain about her but i would give a low review and no tip or small tip and hope she never delivers to me again.

Did u choose no contact door delivery ?

Ik that’s an option on the app but even so I’ve never encountered a dasher who refused to come to the door. She must’ve been aggy from going that far but that’s still no excuse

@Jody Yes, we always select no contact door delivery, like where they just drop it off and text a pic. Part of me thinks maybe she wanted him to go out there so she could give him attitude to his face.

@FairyMother 🦖🌸 that’s probably it fr , I’m sorry u went through that
