Advice please

My baby is 2 days old (second time mum) I’ve decided to EBF this time around just because she was such a low birth weight and I didn’t get chance with my first as my supply was shocking. I’ve been feeding her on demand whenever she cries/ shows cues she’s hungry she has enough dirty nappies and wet and she seems happy, however she doesn’t feed for long each time and I do have to constantly disturb her or wake her up for feeds. I had the midwife today who was horrid and says I should be keeping a diary and feeding her for longer periods every 2 hours strictly. I have another child so sitting writing a diary is just not doable my time is already slim I didn’t even ask for any BF support but I feel like Ive been made to not be capable of looking after my baby at 2 days PP I think it’s shocking the way I was spoken to today, she’s now arranged multiple other appointments that I don’t want and I don’t know what to do can someone advise me please am I doing it wrong? I honestly feel like just going to formula and feel less judged :/

I never recorded my feeds you don’t need to! Every 2-3 hours and as long as baby is feeding at least for 5 minutes/not fussy on the boob should be okay! Sounds like a horrible woman tbh amd full of 💩

I didn’t think I needed to record either but she’s requesting I do she said I was suppose to have been told at discharge to keep a log xx thank you for your reply

My daughter was born 5lbs3 really tiny and still no one requested anything like that!

No log needed just feed on demand and no longer than 3 hours right now. You're doing amazing mama keep up the great work!

You don't have to record but if you wanted to I use an app called huckleberry. I wouldn't go to formula because of that lady's opinion. You got this!

I just use huckleberry

I used the babywise method to nurse my little one. I would only wake her up to feed if we reached 3hrs between feedings. Otherwise just let her sleep and fed her when she woke up.

We had to record it due to jaundice. Huckleberry was really easy to use but otherwise you don’t have to track this.

Thank you for your replies I appreciate you all, I’ll download the huckleberry thank you so much 🥹xxx

Perhaps she could do a referral to the early infant feeding team. My experience was fantastic and built my confidence. Your baby is only 2 days old and you are both learning together. Her treatment of you sounds a little harsh.

Sorry you had this experience! Another vote for using Huckleberry if you want to track, it’s very easy to use. Don’t give up on BF, you’re doing great x

Hey mamas I just want to say baby got weighed today and she’s lost hardly any birth weight it was a different midwife and she said we are doing good and to continue. Thanks for your words of reassurance xx
