Screaming in car seat

4 month old has started screaming every time he gets put into his car seat. It’s awful screaming, like red in the face and choking himself so it’s horrible for me to see. Is there any tips on helping this? He never used to do this, a little grumble initially but quickly got over it, but this is a whole other level

I found mine did this the other week but now is ok. I think it's phases they go through. I also found my baby cries more in pram and car seat when he's overtired. When he's had good sleep he tolerates it all much better. Unless he's just getting used to it. I was going to try gentle graded exposure if he didn't settle with it though. Like putting him in it in the house for a little and playing with him in it, making positive associations. Also could go for 5 min drives and come home to get him used to it. Or even just sit in the car with him while he's in it to distract him so he knows it's a safe place. Hope it improves for you both xx

Check your seat fit as well, if he's grown you might need to adjust the headrest/straps

We have had to put our baby in the front seat (rear facing/air bag off etc) next to me when i drive as he was doing the exact same and it felt really unsafe. Since he’s been next to me and i can comfort him with a pat or hold his hand, he grumbles a little but that’s it. I looked on all the car safety FB groups and there was a few people who have asked the same thing, apparently it can be separation anxiety at this age!

Oh no!! Have you tried maybe when you pick him in try do like happy noises? So he knows that it’s okay and knows not to worry xx
